How Raising Emotionally Intelligent Boys Creates Allies for Women and Girls: A Women's History Month Reflection

Happy International Women's Day!

Every March, during Women's History Month, we celebrate the achievements, leadership, resilience, and contributions of women throughout history.

But this month is also an opportunity to ask an important question:

Who will stand beside the women and girls shaping our future?

The answer begins with the boys we are raising today.

If we want boys to grow into men who respect women…
who listen to women…
who advocate for women…

We must first help them respect and understand themselves.

Confidence Builds Compassion

When boys develop strong self-esteem and emotional awareness, something powerful happens.

They stop measuring themselves against others.
They become more secure in who they are.
And they learn how to extend empathy and respect to the people around them.

That’s why I created From Amazing to Zingy, I Love Me! — a guided A–Z affirmation journal designed specifically for boys.

This journal is more than a workbook.

It’s a foundation for helping boys develop the emotional intelligence and self-awareness that shape strong, compassionate male allies.

Why Emotional Intelligence Matters for Boys

Here’s the truth many people overlook:

  • Boys who learn to name their emotions don’t silence others.

  • Boys who feel secure in who they are aren’t threatened by girls.

  • Boys who practice empathy grow into men who honor women’s voices.

When boys understand their feelings, value themselves, and learn to communicate with care, they grow into men who support equity rather than resist it.

A Journal Designed to Help Boys Grow

Created for boys ages 9–12 (and accessible to younger boys with support), From Amazing to Zingy, I Love Me! blends:

  • Writing prompts

  • Drawing activities

  • Reflection questions

  • Positive affirmations

Each letter of the alphabet introduces a theme that encourages boys to:

  • Build genuine self-confidence and self-worth

  • Develop emotional awareness and healthy expression

  • Strengthen empathy and communication skills

  • Form a positive, empowering relationship with themselves

This kind of intentional self-reflection helps boys grow not just academically, but emotionally and socially.

The Men We Want to See in the Future

When boys grow up with emotional intelligence, they become men who:

  • Respect boundaries
  • Value equity
  • Celebrate women’s achievements
  • Speak up when something isn’t right

They become partners, leaders, fathers, coworkers, and friends who uplift women rather than compete with them.

And that begins much earlier than adulthood.

It begins in childhood—with the tools we give them.

Shaping Allies Starts Now

This Women’s History Month, as we celebrate women and girls, let’s also invest in the boys who will walk beside them.

Because when boys learn to love themselves early, they grow into confident, emotionally aware men who uplift women — not diminish them.

And that has the power to change everything.

From Amazing to Zingy, I Love Me! is perfect for:

  • Classrooms

  • School counselors

  • Families

  • Social-emotional learning (SEL) programs

It’s not just a journal.

It’s an investment in the kind of men we hope will lead, partner, parent, and advocate in the future.
